COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT

Even superheroes need personal space! 🦸‍♀️🦹‍♂️

If you’d like to snap a pic with or of another AFCC - Action Figure Comic Con, villain, or fan, always ask first, and remember, “no” means “no,” no matter what universe you’re from.

Let’s make sure everyone at the AFCC - Action Figure Comic Con feels like they belong on the Hall of Respect.

Be kind, stay classy, and keep those good fandom vibes soaring higher than a caped crusader! 🚀✨

Weapons and Large Props Policy

We want everyone to have a fun, creative, and safe time at the AFCC - Action Figure Comic Convention!

To help make sure all cosplayers and attendees can enjoy the event comfortably, we’ve put together a few simple rules about weapons and large props. Please read carefully before the show and follow these guidelines—failure to do so may result in a warning or removal from the event.

🚫 What’s Not Allowed

  1. No real firearms. They’re not permitted inside the event.
  2. No prohibited weapons as defined under Canadian law. This includes:

    • Butterfly knives (Bali-Song) and switchblades

    • Nunchaku, tonfas, shurikens, or other restricted martial arts weapons (foam versions are fine!)

    • Law enforcement-style gear such as batons, tasers, or mace
  3. No realistic replicas of modern or historical firearms (from the revolver era to present day).
  4. No metal weapons or yaoi paddles. Metal swords, knives, or daggers are not allowed—but plastic or wood props painted to look metallic are totally fine!

âś… What Is Allowed

  • Props and weapons made from foam, plastic, or lightweight wood are welcome.
  • All props must be sheathed, holstered, or safely slung at all times.
  • You can pose with your prop for photos—but only in designated photo areas or during official photoshoots.
  • Please be mindful of space and people around you—keep those big props under control!

🔍 Prop Check

Before you enter the event, all weapons and large props must be checked and approved by the Awesome Toy Show team.

  • Once approved, your prop will be tagged, and your cosplay badge will be marked.
  • If your item doesn’t meet safety standards, you’ll be asked to store it safely (in your hotel room, vehicle, or offsite).

⚠️ Play Nice, Stay Safe

  • No play-fighting, swinging, or mock battles with weapons anywhere in the event space even if everyone involved agrees.
  • Always keep in mind that venue staff, the public, and other guests may not realize your prop is harmless.
  • If something seems unsafe or disruptive, staff may ask you to adjust, store, or remove your item.

đźš“ Consequences (a.k.a. the Serious Bit)

Anyone who breaks these rules may:

  • Lose the privilege to carry a prop weapon
  • Be removed from the AFCC - Action Figure Comic Convention without refund
  • Face further action if public safety or local laws are violated

đź’™ Final Word

Our staff’s decisions are final and always made with one goal in mind, keeping the AFCC (Action Figure Comic Convention) safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone!

We love seeing your creativity come to life, so please help us make this a respectful, photo-worthy, and unforgettable event for all!
